Dubbo CYMS boosted their chances of finals football in Group 11 under-18s on Saturday with an impressive 26-18 win over the Nyngan Tigers at Larkin Oval.

The young Fishies have battled inconsistency for much of 2016 but if Saturday’s showing is anything to go by, they could be hitting their straps at the right time.

Both sides were without players due to the Country 18s tour and the Western Rams representative cluster day at Bathurst but CYMS’ Bayden Searle showed selectors he wouldn’t have looked out of place there as he scored a double in the win.

Nyngan, without the influential Clayton Couley, Daniel Stanley and Tom Waterhouse, remain third on the ladder while CYMS are now three points clear of sixth-placed Parkes.
