Dubbo CYMS out to improve while Narromine names new halves combination for round nine match-up

Dubbo CYMS has been as close to untouchable as a side can be this season but captain Luke Jenkins said his side refuses to rest on its laurels.
The Fishies are undefeated this season and have only lost two matches, albeit one of those last year’s grand final, since the start of 2015.
Despite the comfortable wins racked up this season, coach Tim Ryan and a number of players have stated how the side hasn’t been at its best and Jenkins echoed that, saying the side is driving itself to improve.
“We’re halfway through the year but your attack can always be a bit sharper and the defence can always be more organised and if we get into the finals we’ll want improve all the way up to then,” he said.
“There’s never a point where you say everything is 100 percent right.”
While saying it wasn’t complacency which has led to a less than ideal completion rate and error count each week, Jenkins said his side did discuss the need to lift at training this week.
“We need to keep improving. Individually and as a team,” he said.
CYMS plays host to Narromine on Saturday, aiming for a ninth straight win.
The Jets sit just one spot off the bottom but have been a vastly different side in recent weeks, having scored back-to-back wins over Westside and Macquarie before pushing the second-placed Parkes Spacemen last weekend.
Unfortunately for the Jets, mid-season recruit and former Narromine junior Kurt Beahan broke his arm last weekend while Corey Cox, a key man in the halves, is also out for Saturday’s match.
There have been major changes in the halves at the Jets, with Daryl Cubby’s demotion to the bench meaning a new-look combination of DJ Gordon and DJ Kennedy will feature against CYMS.
“We only beat them by a couple of tries over there and they’re always tough,” Jenkins said.
“They might not be the fittest or best team in the Group but they’re always hard to beat.”
League tag starts 11am.
