CYMS shoot down the Jets in uneven contest

This time the Narromine Jets were the victims, losing 62-6 after a solid showing in the opening half hour of the match.
Keiran Cubby-Shipp scored a hat-trick in the match and Joeby Vetaukula and Jyie Chapman doubles as CYMS made it nine wins in a row.
Jets coach Luke Thompson said there was little his side could have done to to prevent the walkover. He said CYMS were just too professional and too fit for his injury-ravaged outfit to keep up.
Narromine were forced to start the game one man short on the bench because of their injury problems.
Thompson was pleased with the first half, where his team were able to keep up with the Fishies. They trailed 6-0 after 20 minutes after Vetaukula opened the scoring.
The winger got his second after 25 minutes, and that was the start of the flood gates opening for the home side.
Cubby-Shipp ran in two quick tries, the first when he found a gap in the defence, and the second when prop Ben Marlin was able to break through and deliver a nice pass.
Jets halfback Donald Kennedy pulled back one try before half-time to make it 22-6.
The tone for the second half was set after just three minutes with Cubby-Shipp completing his hattrick. The score continued to blow out as Hayden Howell, Jyie Chapman, and Jarryn Powyer all crossed.
Powyer then set up Wade Kavanagh with a well-timed pass, before Chapman got his double and CYMS’ 10th try. Viliame Turuva rounded out the scoring on full-time to make it 62-6.
Cubby-Shipp, Ben Marlin and Luke Jenkins were among CYMS’ best, while Jets prop Ryan Richardson played 80 minutes and led from the front.
CYMS coach Tim Ryan was a happy man after the match, pleased to see his team only let the one try slip through and make almost no errors.
“Narromine kept trying. They always give us a good run. They faded away a bit at the end there but they were pretty solid,” Ryan said.
“We came with a good attitude, I thought our defence was good.”
CYMS have a tough run coming up with four of their last five matches away from home.
They start with Parkes and then take on Macquarie, their only other game at Caltex Park before the finals, before travelling to Wellington, Nyngan and Forbes.
“We’ve had four home games in a row now so we start the away games and it will be a good battle, and a good run into the semis,” Ryan said.
