Flying fullback Kieran Cubby-Shipp was full of praise for teammate Alex Bonham on Sunday after the CYMS five-eighth shrugged off a corked quad to lead his side to a grand final berth.

Bonham has been a key figure for the Fishies all season and against the Nyngan Tigers at Caltex Park he scored one try, had a hand in most of his side’s seven other four-pointers while he also kicked four goals.

Bonham played hooker for the bulk of last season and was key from there in the grand final win over Parkes but in 2016 he has cemented himself as one of the competition’s leading playmakers and currently leads all point-scorers with 202 this season.

“Bonho is a gun,” Cubby-Shipp grinned.

“He played nine last year and I’ve been a big believer of his for a long time and have thought he’s a good player for a long time.

“I like him at nine (hooker) but I also like him at six or seven, as fullback coming around he always gives good ball and we need him on the field. Hopefully he can rest up this week and next because me being at number one I like him there and I’m a big fan of his.”
