AGAINST ALL THE ODDS

Fishies go back-to-back in incredible day for Dubbo

By BEN WALKER

DUBBO CYMS have done what no Group 11 club has been able to do in more than a decade by winning back-to-back premierships.

The Fishies beat Parkes 18-6 in a low-scoring encounter at Caltex Park, in front of a crowd paying in excess of $23,000 at the gate.

The win capped a big day for Dubbo, with the city now boasting the premiers in all four grades of Group 11 rugby league.

Dubbo Westside's league tag and reserve grade sides got the ball rolling with wins early in the day, before CYMS brought it home with success in the under-18s and first grade matches.

Unfortunately for Dubbo Macquarie and Parkes, both clubs went home empty-handed despite having two teams involved on the final day of what has been an entertaining season.

CYMS lock Luke Jenkins won the Bob Weir Medal as best on ground in first grade, finishing just ahead of powerhouses Jarryn Powyer, Ilisoni Vonomateiratu and Billy Sing.
